SOL #13 Happy New Year!

I walked to the Hachiman Shrine with my friends as soon as New Year began. The Shrine illuminated by lights at night was beautiful and mysterious. We drew a "omikuji" (fortune) after praying Hachiman-sama. It came out "Daikichi" which is the best fortune. I was very happy! 


I visited AEON Mall Niigata South on January 1st with my mother. We walk a lot and went into many stores. My mother bought me clothes. On the way to shopping,  earthquake hit and the shopping mall's ground shook very much. I was surprised. We  crouched(しゃがんだ) on the ground. The shaking went on for a minutets. We try to call my family, however, we can't call my family because everyone call their family. I was worry about my groundmother who was in home alone. I watched news about the earthquake on TV after I went home. Then, I know damage from the earthquake in Ishikawa. The painful news was being broadcast all the time. I thought I will have a happy New Year's, but it turned out to be a sad New Year's.

SOL #12 Christmas party

 I had a Christmas party with my friends from junior high school.  We went to AEON and got ingredients for a cake, yakisoba and sushi. Then, we bought hamburgers, chicken nuggets and french fries at McDonald's. As a result of buying only what we likeed, all our dinners become greasy(脂っこい) food. So, we were really full. Next, we make a cake. We promised to make a delisious cake because Halloween cake what we made was a terrible taste. It was very hard to finish the cake. So, this time we put a lot of fruit such as strawberries, pineapple, grapes and blueberries in the cake to make the cake taste good. However, the cake was bad tasting! Why? Probably because we added too much food coloring(食紅) in whipped cream. The whipped cream we made wasn't taste of whipped cream. We had to eat a very tasteless cake again this time. I think we have no talent for cooking cake. Dinner was very greasy and the cake was horrible taste, but we laughd a lot and enjoyed Christmas party!

SOL #10 Christmas party

I had a Christmas party with my club member. We made mini cakes and had a bingo game.  We decorated cupcakes by using whipped cream and chocolate. Everyone decorated them so prettily. Next, we had a bingo game. It take a lot of time because it was hard to get a bingo. When one of the member bingo, she get a gift. We bought the gift for each of us and brought it to the venue. I bought stuffed polar bear and got a mug and sweets sold at MUJIRUSI RYOUHIN.  We played many other games. We laughed a lot. I had a very nice day!

A Word Gift

My artifact is a reference book of Japanese history. The title of the book is “Memorizing the Terms of Japanese History B by Era and Currents.” It published by Buneido. It is not covered by book’s cover. It is white, but it is dirty in places. The size is a little smaller than A4 paper. It is thin like a notebook. The pages in the book are written in, and makers are drawn on the pages. My Japanese History teacher is Mr. Isizuka. He always wears a suit. I took his lessons in my second and third year of high school. He gave a fun lesson to help student remember Japanese History. In addition, he often drawled diagrams and pictures of Japanese History lesson contents on blackboard to help student understand. One day during my third year of high school, he talked about studying for a university entrance exam at lunch break. Then, he introduced us his recommended reference books.
